One of our favorite up-and-coming dance companies in New York City, Barkin/Selissen Project, just uploaded an video excerpt of one of their pieces. We're excited to tell you about it, and it's not just because we helped make the music for it.
The video excerpt is for their piece entitled Shell Shocked and it lives on their Vimeo page. I collaborated on the music for this piece with numerous people including Chris Johnson, Ginger Burden and Agua Trip. It’s filmed on a simple home video recorder, so it feels a little lo-tech, but that is always fine with me. Go check it out to see some interesting and provocative dance positions and moves.

I also collaborated on a video for a part of Shell Shocked not shown in the Vimeo excerpt called Resonant Imaging. I already posted it on this site under Work, check out the post here if you missed it.

Barkin/Selissen Project have numerous events scheduled, so if you want to check them out live, visit their blogspot site for information.

I have known the Tennessee -based sculptor Jackson Martin for a long time now. I have seen him go through many of the growing pains artists go through on their way to finding something they can hold on to and stick with, and I have seen him bury that in the rich, fertile earth and walk towards something else.
Jackson has been maintaining his own site for a while now, and sometimes I am out of the loop about his new work, so I was extremely surprised (pre-age-of-instant-gratification-savor-the-world-when-it-hits-you sort of surprised) when I saw that he had not only one, but three new projects on his website. The most recent is called Collapse (Until Death Do Us Part) and is a textile experiment where Jackson takes his wedding suit, unstitches it to create an exact pattern and makes two copies, one in tarp and one in burlap.

Though Jackson has used burlap and sometimes tarp as materials in previous work, and has been known to be quite adept at clothing design, this is the first example of using them together. He is usually working in even more organic materials like grasses and trees and continues the tradition with another recent project called It Will Continue To Grow, No Matter What I Do, which antagonizes Giuseppe Penone‘s piece Continuerà a crescere tranne che in quel punto. I love the statement.

I suggest checking out some of Jackson’s work, the photography alone is beautifully done.

I was just doing some small maintenance to the CMS of Jacob Gossett's artist website and I was shocked.
I was shocked to see how much new work he has been making and how his technique has started to evolve into something very much his own. I think it’s worth checking out, especially if you are interested in up-and-coming visual artists. He is on the rise and I wish him the best of luck. Check him out at http://www.jacobgossett.com.

Ginger and I are nearing our launch date for our move down to the Nashville, Tennessee area. We are both nervous and excited about the move and the change of scenery. New York is a great place and all our friends and colleagues will be missed greatly.
As far as Lindsey Boise Design is concerned, luckily my clients are moving with us (I guess I need to get a bigger place). The most fortunate aspect of freelance work, and notably of web and graphic design, is the mobility. Almost everything is still possible from almost any distance. That benefit definitely gives balance to the other more unstable aspects of freelancing.

I am also excited to get to work on projects localized to the Nashville and the Southeast. There is a lot of work to be done, and I can’t wait to get started. I will keep you informed of any Lindsey Boise Design news throughout the process.
